Day 1: Arrive Johannesburg,South Africa

Welcome to South Africa! You will be met by an Africa 360 Travel representative and taken to your hotel where you can rest up from your long journey. Touring Johannesburg, Soweto and the Apartheid Museum is an excellent option if you plan to arrive earlier.

Day 2: Johannesburg to Botswana – Chitabe Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana

This morning, after breakfast, we depart for our international flight to Maun, Botswana. In Maun, we’ll transfer to a shared light aircraft flight to Chitabe Camp. Lunch will be served upon arrival into camp.

Botswana is one of Africa’s most iconic and exclusive safari destinations where wildlife and nature flourishes. Situated on a beautiful old tree-island in a prime wilderness locale in the southeast of the Okavango Delta, the recently refurbished Chitabe Camp is built on raised decks to provide superb views across an expansive floodplain. Chitabe has arguably the best game viewing in all of Botswana with the Big 5, African Wild Dogs and much more. We’ll have private vehicles and specialist guides during our stay. All meals will be served at camp.

Day 3-5: Chitabe Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana

Safari! Wake up to incredible Delta views with spectacular panoramas. Enjoy your morning and evening game drives with our expert specialist guides and private vehicles.

While at Chitabe, duties permitting, Dr. Tico McNutt from Botswana Predator Conservation Trust will join us to discuss his work with the Botswana Wild Dog Project, the longest running project on these canids, which are the second most endangered carnivores in Africa after the Ethiopian wolf.

Enjoy your nights stargazing with a glass of wine at the roaring campfire where stories abound.

Day 6: Chitabe Camp to Abu Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana

After our morning game drive, we’ll have a 10-minute light aircraft flight to Abu Camp.

The Okavango Delta is a magical oasis – water in the desert is a truly spectacular sight. The wide, grassy floodplains are host to a magnificent range of wild animals.

Abu Camp offers an Okavango Delta experience with a difference – you are invited to walk with (and feed) the elephants of the Abu herd and see this pristine ecosystem through their eyes. This is a safari like no other – it will transform your perceptions of elephants, wilderness and life itself.

Shortly after arriving at camp, you will be personally introduced to the herd, and the activities that follow over the remainder of your stay will give you a comprehensive and immersive experience as you begin to see the world through their eyes. You’ll become a member of an African elephant herd – an extraordinary and moving privilege that never fails to profoundly touch our guests.

Abu Camp

Day 7: Abu Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana

Set out on a game drive, mokoro (canoe) or hang with the Abu Elephant herd. The day is yours to design and enjoy.

Game drives through the wonderfully varied landscapes of the Abu Concession offer you the chance to see and photograph big game, predators, and herds of elephant and buffalo as well as enjoying more of the Delta’s unique and dynamic scenery. Early mornings and late afternoons provide the best opportunities to see wildlife, when the day is cooler and animals are generally more active.

After dinner, enjoy a cocktail at the fire pit or retire to bathe in your copper tub under the starry sky in your suite.

Abu Camp

Day 8: Abu Camp to Cape Town, South Africa

After our morning game drive, we’ll have breakfast at the lodge. We will then be transferred to the airstrip for our light aircraft flight to Maun where we connect to our flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival in Cape Town, we will be met by an Africa 360 representative for our private road transfer to the 5-star 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa.

The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa stands at the edge of the world. On one side, a line of majestic mountains – The Twelve Apostles – reaches towards the heavens; on the other, the sun sets on breeching whales, playful dolphins, and crashing Atlantic rollers.

Enjoy the remainder of your evening at leisure. You can walk just a few minutes to cosmopolitan Camps Bay where sheik bars and restaurants overlook the ocean. City-centre theatres, art galleries, shops and restaurants of the vibrant Victoria & Alfred Waterfront are only 15 minutes away via a complimentary car transfer service.

Day 9: Cape Town, South Africa – Private Cape Peninsula Tour

This morning, after breakfast we will depart on our private full-day Peninsula Tour. We will drive through the charming and picturesque coastal towns of the Cape and enjoy spectacular views from the world-famous Chapman’s Peak pass. We’ll also visit the charismatic penguins at Boulders Beach, and look out for Cape Fur Seals on Duiker Island.

We make our way along the Atlantic seaboard passing Sea Point, Bantry Bay and Clifton. Bakoven and Llandudno, with their ghostly shipwrecks, are also fantastic sights on the way to the fishing village of Hout Bay, where we board a boat to view the Cape fur seal colony on Duiker Island (weather permitting).

From here we navigate the 114 curves of 600m high Chapman’s Peak Drive. Enter the Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park with its unique Cape fynbos vegetation and home to birds like African black oystercatchers and Cape sugarbirds as well as to very special fauna including Cape mountain zebra, bontebok (both endemic) and the charismatic Cape baboon.

Climb or ride the world’s first environmentally friendly funicular to the famous Cape Point Lighthouse to capture the magical vistas of False Bay.

After lunch, we will visit Boulders Beach to see the penguins, and then head home through the naval village of Simon’s Town and over scenic Boyes Drive, taking in the views of the fishing harbor at Kalk Bay and the seaside havens of St James and Muizenberg.

To round off the day, you can take a stroll through Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden on the slopes of Table Mountain.

If you’re tired, you can enjoy dinner at the top-rated Azure restaurant inside our hotel or venture out to one of Cape Town’s finest restaurants or night clubs.

Day 10: Cape Town, South Africa

Explore Cape Town your way! The options are boundless in this magical city. Hike up Table Mountain or take the cable car, walk the wilderness trails around 12 Apostles, book a massage at the spa, Tour Robben Island, tour the Winelands/Stellenbosch, Shop at the V&A waterfront shops, take the big red bus city tour, or simply relax by the pool with your favorite book.

Regardless of your choice, today is yours to design and enjoy.

Day 11: Cape Town to Earth Lodge, Sabi Sands Game Reserve, South Africa

This morning, after breakfast, we will depart for Cape Town airport where we’ll take a non-stop flight to Skakuza Airstrip which is located in the heart of Kruger National Park.

We will be met by our specialist guides and will enjoy a game drive on our way to camp through the spectacular Sabi Sands Game Reserve.

Day 12-13: Earth Lodge, Sabi Sands, South Africa

Safari! Enjoy your morning and evening game drives with our specialist guides in private vehicles or a walking safari.

Sabi Sands is the ultimate South Africa safari destination! The most famous private game reserve of all, Sabi Sands Game Reserve, adjacent to South Africa’s flagship Kruger National Park, offers a safari experience found nowhere else in the world. Game viewing possibilities are simply unparalleled, including the much sought after ‘Big 5’. There are no fences between Kruger National Park and Sabi Sands Game Reserve, so wildlife roams freely in the huge natural environment.

The Sabi Sands is in particular well known for its amazing leopard sightings. The most elusive animal of the Big 5 is frequently spotted when going on a game drive in the reserve. As such, Sabi Sands offers the ultimate photographic safari one can think of.

You can be certain to return home with some absolutely stunning pictures and memories. Besides the Big 5, other game species occur in great numbers, among which are more than 300 bird species. Sabi Sands possibly makes the best South African safari destination for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and bird watchers alike.

Day 14: Earth Lodge to Pilanesberg National Park Area, South Africa

This morning, after our morning game drive, we’ll have breakfast at the lodge. We will then be transferred to Skakuza airstrip for our short flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg, we will be met by an Africa 360 representative for our private road transfer to the wildlife reserve which is home to Endangered Rhino Conservation which is approximately a 3-hour drive from Johannesburg. We’ll stop along the way at the festive African craft market where haggling is a sport!

Upon arrival, we have time to relax before dinner. All meals will be served at camp.

After dinner, the excitement begins when we have our briefing from the Conservation and Veterinarian teams on our rhino experience the following morning.

The rhino horn trimming/dehorning creates a rhino capture experience where our guests will actively take part and assist the vet and wildlife crew. A helicopter is used to locate an unmarked rhino and guide the animal to suitable working areas away from danger. The whole experience can take from 90 minutes to 4 hours.

Day 15: Private Wildlife Reserve, Pilanesberg National Park Area, South Africa

After breakfast, our rhino conservation adventure begins as we participate in the rhino trimming/dehorning experience to protect this amazing species from poaching.

Hear stories on the plight of the rhino and their extraordinary efforts to protect and save them. Meet the K9 anti-poaching team that protects the rhinos and wildlife Vets.

After lunch and a well-deserved break, we’ll have the unique opportunity to walk with giraffe, see baby rhinos and explore the reserve where they have many rare mammals like Sable, Eland, Steenbok, Blesbok, Red hartebeest, Tsessebe, Brown hyena, Honey badger, Aardvark and more.

The evening isn’t complete until you experience a hearty braai (barbeque) with campfire conversation. The true bush experience gives guests a chance to live amongst the abundant wildlife and experience the serenity of nature.

Day 16: Depart South Africa

After our morning game activities, we’ll enjoy breakfast at camp. We will have a road transfer to Johannesburg Airport and check in for our international flights. The international terminal has excellent shops for last minute gifts or simply relax with a drink in the airport lounge.
